The Public Sector Challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK & the British Heart Foundation

Created in 2022 by the chief executive of Brentwood BC and Rochford DC, Jonathan Stephenson, the Public Sector Challenge rallies public sector individuals, teams, and organisations to raise money for Cancer Research UK by climbing three selected peaks in the UK, in 24 hours.

In 2023, Jonathan teamed up with 150 sector employees and partners, alongside The MJ, Solace, the LGA and Socitm to climb the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours and raised £60,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The 2025 Challenge

Taking place on Friday 5 September, explore stunning landscapes in the breathtaking hills of Mam Tor, Back Tor, Lose Hill across the great ridge and on to Bamford Edge, and Win Hill.

With routes of 8 miles, 15 miles, 21 miles, and a marathon 26miles, plus a wheelchair-accessible route around Lady Bower Reservoir, there's a perfect challenge for every fitness level.

Despite none of the ascents being as high as 2024 Challenge – don’t let that fool you, there is still enough up and down to make you work! Are you ready to take on the Peak Pursuit?
