Richard Howells is founder of The Tribe Project. He is British Tech Pioneer of the Year for advances in AI and has represented the UK on thirteen international trade missions for digital innovation. Richard has recently been made an NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow. The mission of The Tribe Project is to close gaps in care provision and the project restores choice and control to individuals seeking care whilst offering an economically sustainable model for commissioners and wider health provision in the UK.

Unlocking AI and data to generate savings and improve community choice (a social care example)

AI and data can play a significant part in unlocking opportunities and savings for local authorities. In this panel session, we speak about the benefits brought to Social Care in Essex, through a groundbreaking initiative, the Tribe Project. Tribe has delivered £6million of positive economic impact to the region, whilst also bringing increased choice and control to over a 1,000 local users of social care. The discussion will look at public sector integration and how through working closely with partners from the private sector, NHS and the local voluntary sector, councils can deliver social value, economic development and improved community outcomes and whilst also addressing positively one of the major challenges facing UK public service
